Welcome to RetireTheChief |
Brent S., Mar. 16, 2005 (Opinion: strongly pro-Chief) There comes a time when you just can't take anymore. I am so freaking sick and tired of the PC crowd getting offended by every little thing. Pretty soon we will not be allowed to leave our houses. Instead we should all be locked inside a plastic bubble so we have no contact with the outside world. If you are offended by plastic, perhaps we can make the bubble out of a more bio degradable container, no wait you might offend people who make plastic. If you don't like the shape of a sphere perhaps we can build you a cube, no wait you might offend someone who works in an office, or someone who is incarcerated in a cell. Perhaps we can build you a pyramid, but I bet that just wouldn't work either as the Egyptians might get offended. If the mascot walked around with a bottle labeled "Fire Water" while he trades his valuable items for shiny beads I could understand being a little angry. It is a guy dressed up in a costume who dances. I am quite certain that no political statement is being made as to how Indians behaved. I swear to God that if I got offended every time I heard a joke about the Polish, as my family emigrated here from Poland, I would probably go insane. I am from western Pennsylvania and my father was a steelworker. Now, the talk about the Steelers is that they are a blue collar, hard working team, who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty to win a game. Now, my father might take offense and sue the Steelers because he doesn't like being called "blue collar." How dumb would that be? If you don't like it here is a novel idea, don't watch it! I doubt those who attend sporting events there base their opinions personal, or political on what the school mascot does. If I remember correctly sport and competition played a rather important part of the daily lives of Indians, but it is pretty funny that I don't seem recall anything about casinos or tax free tobacco shops. Here is a good word of advice. You can't please everyone. If you spend your time trying to, you will get nowhere, fast. Some people are going to be offended, that is just part of life. If you can't handle these things while you are in college, how on earth do you expect to deal with the outside world? If you plan on filing a law suit every time some does something you don't like you will spend your entire life in court because the average person just doesn't give a damn what you think, they are more concerned with getting to work, doing their jobs, or getting a new DVD. If I ever get bored, or make myself independently wealthy I think I may start filing law suits against those who file these retarded PC lawsuits, because their stupidity offends ME.
