(Opinion: pro-Chief)

It seems like many of the protests have to do not with chief itself, but how UI is depicting it. I agree that having the chief logo on everything from seat covers to umbrella to underwear is not the most respectful act, but don't eliminate the chief because of it.

Obviously UI is seeing the almighty dollar and running with it. They all do, but that doesn't make it ok.

Marketing is a big money maker, but you should focus on the UI changing that to make the chief logo more respectable.

Would you rather have Chief Illiniwek or FSU's mascot and tomahawk chop. or Atlanta. Now there is disrepect.

Illiniwek is about what Illinois is. People talk about changing it to associate us with Lincoln. But lincoln wasn't born here, and doesn't carry the same uniqueness that Illiniwek do. I would rather call us the Corn Jerkers.
