Opinion: anti-Chief

Chris Aston's (March 7th) letter brings up an interesting point- if we want to get rid of the chief, we should be suggesting an alternative. If we could come up with a good idea for an alternative mascot, it would be much easier for the university to lose the chief.

It would be interesting if the various organizations that oppose Illiniwek held a contest for suggesting an alternative mascot. Our case would be much stronger if we could specifically lay out an alternative to intolerance rather than merely oppose it.
