There is nothing demeaning about The Chief. He symboliuzes honor, character and American tradition to the university and its alumni. He makes me proud to be an alumnus, and his traditional dance gives me goosebumps every time I see it. Stanford capitulated, and now they have a tree for a mascot. That's silly. St. John's has a color; now that's something to rally around. Keep The Chief, and if you really want to help, work to safeguard the honor of his tradition and never let anyone cheapen it. Mie Morrow
