(Opinion: strongly anti-Chief)

When you ask a native american, they do not care because they are down in the dumps, they are so demoralized, that they do not even know what a real indian does, they just gave up the fight because of the enormous pressures inside. my jewish friend brought up a good point in class the other day, would it be right to have a school names like "the starving jews" and have a jew that is mal-fed and is stumbling around being beaten by a nazi?, of course not! and when people think that a PEOPLE are a mascot, that is the problem. and when you say 'honoring us' , well, WE DON'T WANT THE 'HONOR' , why not honor us in other ways? like come to a POWWOW and find out the real meaning of being an indian. an i also belive that the pro-chief and anti-cheif sides have a differnt meaning of 'honor', was wounded knee an honor? was the genocide of an entire race honor? where was the honor 200 years ago? it's funny, you all have so much 'pride' in the chief, yet i bet 95% of you all have no idea about what the real chief was about, and have no idea in our history. when we want white,fat,shirtless men 'honoring' us bu cheering and eating nachos at the same time, well tell you, but until then, RETIRE THE CHIEF(s)!!!!!!

its funny...i was asking my little cousin what an indian was.... here are his exact words.. "they kill people, they are little brown people who dance around and yell funny", and wow, this was funny to hear, considering i told him after that that i was indian, and he was amazed, truly amazed.....and then i followed it up by "where did you here this from?".... guess where??? "school.". this is the problem with this mascott issue, people are getting taught total BLASPHOMY that is where the sterotypes started. but i do not blame the kids, unless they know what they are saying, but schools in this area SUCK for native americans, i go to a suburban high school and we spend about 1 day talking on native americans, and concidering no white man could survive without an indian back in the day, i find it funny that i find almost NOTHING on pre-columbian indians, sure, you get some maya and aztec, but what about the north american indians? this is a horrible deal and that is the root of the problem. peace
