Welcome to RetireTheChief |
Anonymous, Sep. 23, 2004 Opinion on chief: no comment If chief supporters are insisting that using the chief is a honor and they want to have a symbol of power and respect for the team, would trading in the Fighting Illini and the chief for the Fighting Clergymen and the pope be something they would feel good about? They could have some college student dress in an outfit that resembles that of the the pope and perhaps perform a little mass at half-time. We could even get a real catholic to teach the pope mascot how to do it right, out of respect. Fans and players alike could really connect with the power of the catholic church and treat it with the same utmost respect and honor that they give to the chief now. How could chief fans refuse?
