The following was in response to a request for positions on the Chief among central IL election candidates. Dan McCollum is a former mayor of Champaign.

I grew up in C-U, and the tradition of the chief is part of my tradition. However, the Board should base its decision on what is best for the reputation of the University, not on individual feelings on either side. I am willing to forego my own feelings in the best interests of the University, and that is the Board's decision to make.
