I am a former alum and rabid Illini fan, that's right Illini, fighting Illini. The University has publicy denounced the idea of the Chief being a mascot. He is simply a symbol of the University. He doesn't fight with mascots of other teams, engage in degrading stunts or comedy at halftime, he isn't doing ANYTHING degrading to native americans at all. The chief is simply there to honor native american heritage by doing a tribal dance. I fail to see any problem with it. Tree huggers and liberals should go away. I for one feel it incredibly sad that whiny people are looking to get money from lawsuits and make everything so PC that they take all individuality away from anything! Fight for something worth fighting for and leave the chief alone!
