Why not just change the name of the state? Get rid of all references to Illini everywhere. Change the name to University of Champaign, assuming Chmapaign is not an indian reference. Change the state to name to Chicago State.

Why is it okay to call teams Trojan's, Celtics, Scots, Highlanders, Pirates and the like? And these teams actually have mascots and emblems to boot.

Lighten up. You take yourself too seriously.
